Will's Front Cover Analysis

I looked as this magazine front cover as I know that they are one of the leaders in the market. I really enjoyed analysing this front cover and it has helped me in making sure I produce the best possible front cover. I want to use parts of NME's techniques in my final piece.

Fran's Front Cover Analysis

I decided on this front cover as I like the magazine Kerrang. I really think we should use this magazine as inspiration for our final pieces. I like the colours used for the font which we could use as a theme for our own magazine. I really enjoyed analysing this front cover.

Jordan's Front Cover Analysis

I thought that this front cover was really interesting as i liked the way that the gold writing looked on the black background. I found it interesting looking at the various aspects of a magazine. If i was to do this again then i may not use a black background as i can now see that it may be difficult to read, especially on a computer.

Lucy's Front Cover Analysis

I really enjoyed looking at the various rock magazine front covers. This cover appealed to me as it featured one of my favourite and current artists, Adele. I thought that this front cover was eye-catching however it was still quite simple. It wasnt over the top and had i seen this in the shop, i would have been tempted to have bought it. It was interesting learning all of the various technical terms and different elements that go onto a front cover as i had never really thought about them before.

Jordan's Moodboard: Punk

I  looked into the genre of Punk music which is my personal favourite. Although I was really for this genre we decided as a group that it may not be suitable. This was because the other members of my group were nto as intrested in it. we therefore cam to the conclusion that it was not really for us.

Will's Moodboard: Heavy Metal

As a group we decided that one of the genres of rock that we would research would be heavy metal. allthough I enjoyed looking into this style we decided as a group that it may not be very suitable for our rock magazine. we belive that there is not really a very strong market out there for this type of rock.

Fran's Moodboard: Classic Rock

As a group we chose the musical theme of rock to base our magazine on. We then divided this into sub-catagories for each of us to research.I looked a classic rock. There are many artists within the classic rock theme, some of which feature in my mood board. I found this mood board good for inspiration when it came to thinking up ideas for a classic rock magazine. The colours such as black, white and red which feature heavily, i think would look good on a rock magazine.

Lucy's Moodboard: Rock and Roll

 I enjoyed researching into rock and roll as i found it interesting. I created this mood board from images of various artists within the rock and roll theme. This helped to give us an idea of what themes a rock and roll magazine would need. Although i enjoyed this catagory as a group we do not think that rock and roll is the right theme for our final magazine.

Jordan's Contents Page

I am really happy with my contents page however I belive that it may be a bit simple. The other people in my group have done a very differant style contents page so therefore we may have to adapt to suite all.

Lucy's Contents Page

I like this contents mock-up as it is simple and clean. I like the idea of having a 'letter from an editor' as this is a common feature in many magazines. However, i think that this looks quite boring and if i used more images and moved them around into intresting positions i think that it would be improved. It would make the page look more interesting.

Will's Contents Page

Although I like my contents movk up I have decided that the letter from the editor may make our magazine morwe of a fasion magazine rather that a rock one. I really like the layout and will maybe use parts for my final piece.

Fran's Contents Page

With this mock-up of a contents page i decided to  make the contents listings the main point of the page, ensuring that they are easily seen by the reader. I like the idea of having multiple images on the contents page as this makes it look more appealing to the audience. However, i would like to move some of the images around as i think this could make the page look more interesting.

I am pleased with how my mock-up front cover turned out. I like the way that the photo is the main focus point of the cover, which makes it eye-cathing to the audience. I like the colour schemes of red, white and black and i think that this is something which we can take forward to our final magazine cover. However, if i was to improve this i would make the text blocks smaller, so that they are easier to read at a quick glance and would have more of them, in order to fill up the white space.

I am pleased with my Mock-up front cover however I belive that there are parts such as the choice of image could be improved. This is due to the large white gap that is found between my image and mast head.

I am happy with my Mock-up front cover, although I belive that there is room for improvement. I will firstly try to fill the front cover to make it more exciting to the audience. I like the colours used as they

are bright and eye catching, I have decided to use these colours for my final front cover.

I am happy with my mock-up of a front cover. I think that it appeals well to our target audience, college students and is eye-catching and bright. I like the layout of this front cover as there is lots on there however it doesnt look over-crowded. To improve i would experiment with more font styles in order to make it look more interesting. 

Introduction to the Music Industry

We are excited and looking forward to our Media coursework. We are looking forward to carrying out audience research and learning more about the music industry and music magazines. We will create our magazines individually, however will work together as a group to create the final piece. We are all friends and get on well and we are therefore very happy with our group as we feel that we can all work well together.
